On November 27, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Joint Laboratory for Contaminants Exposure and Health Strategic Seminar was successfully held at Guangdong University of Technology. This seminar adoptsonline and offline synchronization,Professor Yang Xingfen from Southern Medical University and others attended the meeting offline while Professor Cai Zongwei from Hong Kong Baptist University, Professor Xiao Ying from Macau University of Science and Technology, Professor Shen Hanming from Macau University and other Hong Kong and Macau experts participate in a synchronous online video conference. More than 30 teachers and students from the Institute of Environmental Health and Pollution Control of Guangdong University of Technology attended the meeting.
The conference was organized by the Institute of Environmental Health and Pollution Control of Guangdong University of Technology,Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Joint Laboratory for Contaminants Exposure and Health, Guangdong Key Laboratory of Environmental Catalysis and Health Risk Control, Guangdong Engineering Technology Research Center for Photocatalytic Technology Integration and Equipment, Guangdong Jointly sponsored by the Professional Committee of Pollutant Exposure and Health Risk Control of the Provincial Society of Environmental Sciences.
The seminar was presided over by Professor Yu Yingxin,Executive Deputy Director of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Joint Laboratoryfor Contaminants Exposure and Health. He first introduced the participating experts and expressed his gratitude and warm welcome to their attendance.Then Professor An Taicheng, director of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Joint Laboratory for Contaminants Exposure and Health, delivered a welcome speech and introduced the development、the characteristics、the scientific research team、the main research direction and the work done in recent years of the Institute of Environmental Health and Pollution Control.
He also looks forward to promoting the growth of this "seed fund" and establishing a real cooperation platform through the exchange of joint laboratories, and finally points out the ten key development directions of the laboratory in the future.
In the morning, Professor Xiao Ying and Professor An Taicheng presided over the meeting. Professor Mao Chen, Professor Meng Xiaojing, Associate Professor Zhang Guoxia from Southern Medical University, Professor Xiao Ying, Professor Wu Qibiao, Associate Professor Li Na, Lecturer Yu Xi, Associate Professor Song Qingbin from Macau University of Science and Technology, Professor Shen Hanming and Associate Professor Liu Ziming from the University of Macau have made wonderful academic reportswhich focusedonthepollutant hazard identification and health risk assessment, population exposure andtherelated analysis methodsrespectively.
In the afternoon, the meeting was chaired by Professor Yang Xingfen and Professor Shen Hanming. Professor Xue Jingchuan of the Institute of Ecological Engineering, Professor Li Guiying and Professor Yu Yingxin of the Institute of Environmental Health and Pollution Control gave wonderful work reports respectively. The participating experts all hoped to speed up the cooperation between teams, promote the development of the laboratory, and achieve more results. It is pointed out that all parties should find the commonalities and interestsfor cooperation.
In the discussion session, Professor Shen Hanming affirmed the reports ofallexperts, and hoped that there will be opportunities to cooperate in various fields in the future to create sparks. Professor Xiao Ying affirmed the communication effect of the conference, and also affirmed the scientific research achievements of experts and scholars. Professor Yang Xingfen then gave a speech to express that the conference was very informative,while all experts focus on the scientific research progress and hotspots in recent years. The basic purpose of the conference has been achieved,she hopes to work towards common goals in the future and solve problems together. It is clear that each scientific research team has its own characteristics, which can be integrated in one or two lines, strung together, produced highlights, and made iconic results.This conference was a good learning opportunity for young teachers, and the content of the report highlighted the strengths of each teacher. In the next work,wehope to complement each other's strengths and integrate each person's strengths into the construction of the laboratory which can be based on the several major directions in terms of details, such as making a methodological breakthrough, metabolomics research, cooperation in observatories, and industry-university-research research that integrates disciplines and national needs.Professor An Taicheng, director of the laboratory, also said that we should pay more attention to the common issues of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao and conduct in-depth discussions.
Finally,Professor An Taicheng, director of the joint laboratory,summarized the conference and expressed his expectation for closer cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao parties to jointly build the joint laboratory better.
