After a year of incubation,the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Joint Laboratory for Contaminants Exposure and Health launched in October.To strengthen the construction of the joint laboratory, lead vigorous development of the lab and promote communication, the launch meeting was organized on October18, 2021 by the Institute of Environmental Health and Pollution Control of Guangdong University of Technology,Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Joint Laboratory for Contaminants Exposure and Health, Guangdong Key Laboratory of Environmental Catalysis and Health Risk Control, Guangdong Engineering Technology Research Center for Photocatalytic Technology Integration and Equipment, Guangdong Jointly sponsored by the Professional Committee of Pollutant Exposure and Health Risk Control of the Provincial Society of Environmental Sciences.Academician Jiang Guibin of Chinese Academy of Sciences, academician Yang Zhifeng of Chinese Academy of Engineering, professor Ma Yibing from Macao University of Science and Technology, professor Huang Jianping from Lanzhou University, professor Quan Xie from Dalian University of Technology, professor Cai Zongwei from Hong Kong Baptist University, researcher Feng Xinbin from Institute of Geochemistry of Chinese Academy of Sciences, researcher Liu Xiaowen from South China Institute of Environmental Sciences of Ministry of Ecological Environment, researcher Zhang Gan from Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry of Chinese Academy of Sciences, professor Shao Min from Jinan University, professor Zhang Chaosheng from National University of Ireland, professor Yao Maosheng from Peking University, researcher Shi Xiaoming from Institute of Environmental Related Products of Chinese CDC and researcher Yang Zifeng from Guangzhou Medical University were invited to participate such meeting online and offline synchronization.

The meeting was chaired by Professor Yu Yingxin, Executive Deputy Director of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Joint Laboratoryfor ContaminantsExposure and Health. He first introduced the participating experts and expressed his gratitude and warm welcome to their attendance.Deputy division chiefChen Hui of Scientific Research Institute of GDUT and deputy division chiefLuo Xiaopeng of Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Provincedelivered a welcome speechrespectively andwere very surprised at the preliminary progress of the joint laboratory. Next, the Academic Committee of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Joint Laboratory for Contaminants Exposure and Health including academician Jiang Guibin, professor Shao Min, researcher Shi Xiaoming, researcher Liu Xiaowen, professor Yao Maosheng, researcher Yang Zifeng and professor An Taicheng were awarded appointment letters by deputy division chief Luo.

In the meeting,Professor An Taicheng, director of the joint laboratory,introduced the construction background, construction field, construction content and mode of the laboratory as well as the progress and achievements of the construction in the past year, and then made a detailed plan for the next step of the work.Academician Jiang Guibin hosted and invited online and on-site experts togivesuggestions for the development plan of the laboratory. They were full of praise and congratulations on the achievements of the joint laboratory, and put forward valuable suggestions for the development and construction of the joint laboratory.

Then,thegroup members of the laboratory discussed the suggestions, preparation andtalenttraining discussed at today’smeeting. Professor An Taicheng, director of laboratory, Professor Cai ZongweifromHong Kong Baptist University, Professor Ma YibingfromMacao University of Science and Technology, Professor Yang XingfenfromSouthern Medical University andpresidentLi YunfeifromGuangzhou Zike Environmental Technology Inc. made statements and discussions.

Finally, professor An Taicheng, director of laboratory, made a summary of the meetingandwould fully digest and absorb the valuable opinions of experts,and put forward high requirements.Then He alsoexpressed his expectation for closer cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao parties to jointly build the joint laboratory betterand build an excellent platform for the Greater Bay Area.
