On November 25, the 2020 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Joint Laboratory certification ceremony and construction work symposium was held in Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province. The‘Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Joint Laboratory for Contaminants Exposure and Health',led by our college, was officially accreditated at the meeting.

The laboratory was led by Guangdong University of Technology while academician Yang Zhifeng from Institute of Environmental and Ecological Engineeringwas the honorary director,professor An Taicheng, served as the director of the laboratory. Southern Medical University, Hong Kong Baptist University, Macao University of Science and Technology, Macao University and Guangzhou Zike Environmental Technology Inc. were the joint construction units of joint laboratory.

It is an inevitable demand for realizing the green development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Areavis marking the world-class bay area ecological environment and life health.

 The joint laboratory converged environmental, chemical, biological, health and other fields in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macaoas well as the first-class international scientific research teams.It focuses on theecological environment and life health caused by pollutant emission in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, explaining the dose-morphology-effect relationship among pollutant discharge, migration and transformation, ecology and health hazard in typical regions,screening and identifying the characteristic metabolites and specific markers of typical multi-source pollutants in the human body.Finally,pollution abatement, sustainable environmental development and overall improvement of population health will be realizedin Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Areawhile also providing important theoretical basis, methodology and technical support for safety and health control.

The successful approval of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Joint Laboratory has achieved a new breakthrough in the science and technology innovation platform and talent exchange and cooperation, which is of great significance for our college to actively participate in the construction of the Greater Bay Area, gather innovation resources of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao and the innovative research cooperation mode.
